GMDC-Gramya Vikas Trust (GVT) supports Art & Cultural related activities and spiritual initiatives. In alignment with this, GMDC-GVT has undertaken the construction of a removable German Hanger (Shed) at Anand Bazar, Shri Jagannath Temple.
Anand Bazar, situated to the northeast of Singhadwara (outer enclosure) within the temple complex, is arguably the largest food market in the world and holds immense historical and cultural importance. It is here that the Maha Prasad, the sacred offering to Lord Jagannath, is served to thousands of devotees daily. Partaking in the Maha Prasad is considered a divine blessing, believed to grant salvation.
Recognising the need to provide a comfortable and protected environment for devotees, GMDC-GVT has contributed ₹ 47,85,000/- towards the construction of a state-of-the-art German Hanger (Shed). This shed is designed to cover the expansive area of Anand Bazar, ensuring that devotees can partake in the Maha Prasad without being affected by seasonal weather conditions.
The shed provides shelter from rain, heat and other weather elements, allowing devotees to enjoy the Maha Prasad comfortably throughout the year.
Through this contribution, GMDC-GVT is honoured to play a role in enhancing the spiritual journey of thousands of devotees at Jagannath Temple.
