GMDC-Gramya Vikas Trust (GMDC-GVT) believes that access to quality healthcare is a fundamental right for every individual, regardless of their location. In alignment with this vision, “GMDC – Jan Chikitsa Seva” initiative provides comprehensive medical services through Mobile Medical Units (MMUs) in the operational areas of GMDC Ltd. across Gujarat and Odisha. At present, there are 8 Mobile Medical Units operational in remote villages of Kachchh, Bhavnagar, Chhotaudepur, Bharuch and Surat in Gujarat and at Angul and Sundargarh in Odisha. To realise the goal of enhancing the healthcare accessibility, GMDC-GVT has partnered with M/s Apollo Hospitals Enterprise Ltd. for implementing GMDC – Jan Chikitsa Seva Project in the vicinity of its project locations.
GMDC – Jan Chikitsa Seva aims to bridge the healthcare gap in rural and remote areas by delivering preventive and curative healthcare services directly to the communities that need them the most. The Mobile Medical units are the state-of-the-art medical facilities providing free of cost consultations and medications. The MMUs are also equipped with telemedicine consultations for specialised consultation requirements and Point of Care Testing (PoCT) capabilities, with nearly 30 types of lab investigations.

Preventive Healthcare:
Regular health check-ups and awareness programmes on health and hygiene, nutrition, anaemia, hypertension, diabetes, menstrual hygiene and many other health ailments.
Curative Healthcare:
Diagnosis and treatment of common ailments, management of chronic diseases, teleconsultations and referral services for specialised care.
Since its inception, GMDC – Jan Chikitsa Seva has made significant strides in improving healthcare access and outcomes. Reaching out to 115 villages across Gujarat and Odisha, MMUs by GMDC- GVT have conducted over 40,000 consultations and provided medications for more than 23,000 check-ups. In addition, MMUs have also conducted more than 5,000 lab tests and 900 medical camps with 650 unique diagnoses. This extensive reach ensures that thousands of individuals receive timely and essential medical care, enhancing their quality of life and promoting healthier communities.
GMDC-GVT is committed to expand the reach of the project, introducing more Mobile Medical Units and covering additional villages near GMDC’s Akrimota Thermal Power Station, Ta. Lakhpat, Dist. Kachchh and GMDC Project at Valia, Dist. Bharuch reaching out to more number of people devoid of medical facilities in remote locations.
